After being dismissed from Quiet Riot over the weekend, Seann Nicols wasn’t without a band for very long. The singer has been recruited as the new frontman for Bobby Blotzer‘s Ratt, replacing Joshua Alan who left the group in mid February.
Blotzer posted on the Ratt Facebook page (as seen below) to detail the news, explaining that a friend of Blotzer’s knew of a “ripping lead singer,” which the drummer kept in his back pocket, also notifying Alan that someone was potentially in line to take his place. When the band lineup dissolved, Alan had reassured him that he was in it for “the long haul” and Nicols wound up joining Quiet Riot in October of 2016.
Later on, Nicols had sent Blotzer versions of Ratt songs with his voice in place of Stephen Pearcy‘s, which left Blotzer “quite astonished to be honest.” Finishing his statement, the drummer said, “But, the music business is an incestuous small world. So, there you go. There is still a war waging but I’m not going to get into those specifics. I will, though, give you a little taste of what I was sent on the road in July 2016. I wish I had future vision then.”
That “taste” can be heard below with Nicols singing over Ratt’s “Lovin’ You’s a Dirty Job.”
Two weeks ago, Blotzer revealed he would be undergoing spinal surgery to repair a collapsed vertebrae along with another on the verge of collapsing. The procedure will take place after the drummer’s incarnation of Ratt performs in Ft. Yates, N.D. on March 18. Meanwhile, the legal battle over the Ratt name with his former bandmates is still ongoing.
